Republican Elephant Crap Thrills Wheaton

sym·bol (sĭm'bəl) n. - Something that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention.

The Naperville Sun covered the Wheaton Independence Day parade:
Big Queenie [a 10,000 pound Barnes and Bailey Circus elephant sponsored by the Republican Party of DuPage County] definitely got the attention of the crowd just before the corner of Main and Wesley streets, when she stopped and relieved herself.

One woman, not wishing to be identified, said it was the highlight of the parade.

"She stopped, took a dump and everyone cheered."

And that, dear friends, sums up the last 50 years of DuPage County politics in a nutshell.

If you are going to cross-post someone else's picture and article, you should at least make sure they are from:
1) the same city and country (Wheaton, IL, USA vs. Chiang Mai Zoo in Thailand)
2) from the same date (July 4, 2007 vs. January 2005)
3) do not violate copyright law. (The picture ran in Bangkok's The Nation and may be copyrighted).

If you leave up the picture, you should at least attribute the photograph as not being from the Wheaton Fourth of July Parade.

Anonymous,

First, a definition:

jux·ta·pose v. To place side by side, usually with the intention of bringing out a specific quality or creating an effect, particularly when two contrasting or opposing elements are used.

Many of the pictures used to illustrate this blog are not meant to be factual representations of the subjects of the posts. Rather, they are often intended as a humorous or ironic complement to the post in question.

Most readers understand this and, to be honest, it never occurred to me that citizens of the 21st century could be ignorant of this long standing tradition in visual arts and communication.

But in the interests of those wildly (and possibly willfully) ignorant individuals the So-Called "Austin Mayor" blog presents:

"A Disclaimer for the Easily Confused"

The pumpkin-headed stick man from Oz in the post entitled "Pumpkin Squashes Indie Retailers" is NOT William Patrick Corgan, Jr.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky's 1866 novel "Crime and Punishment" is NOT about convicted felon, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

The picture illustrating the post "WWEird" is NOT purported to be an actual photograph of Chris Benoit burning in the fires of Hell.

The comic cover illustrating the post "Cap'n Crunch" is NOT meant to imply that the fictional character Steve Rogers is currently a junior officer in the U.S. Army.

The video posted under the title "Change of Mood" was NOT intended to be interpreted as a documentary recording of an actual sadistic toddler conducting a police interrogation.

And, finally, the post entitled "Hulk Here! Hulk Queer! Get Used to Hulk!" is NOT intended to out Marvel Comics' fictional character The Hulk as a gay homosexual. The so-called "Austin Mayor" blog has absolutely no reason to believe that The Hulk is gay.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

If any anonymous readers still find this blog too confusing, you may wish to visit this blog instead.

Thank you for your time,

-- SCAM

My wife said she was surprised by the elephant, and that it didn't go over all that great when it took a dump. Many picked up on your comment right then and there.

She also noted the large presence of the Operation:Turn DuPage Blue contingent, noting it seemed to be one of the larger groups in the parade. Gee, you mean my neighbors aren't all Republicans? Who knew!

Did your GOPUSA Illinois editor Dave Diersen need one scoop or two for all the valuable fertilizer?
